OPP Officer Receives Outstanding Police Officer Service Award

(HALIBURTON, ON) – Members from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to congratulate one of their fellow officers who was recently awarded for his commitment to the community.

On Monday March 30, 2015, Provincial Constable Robin CARMOUNT received the Fleming College Police Foundations Outstanding Police Officer Service Award. This award is given to a police officer who has demonstrated one or several qualities consistent with superior policing and service to their community.

Robin was recognized for his engagement with the youth in our community. Robin developed a sports program on Monday evenings for the kids in the community where it gives the kids a chance to come out and play sports with the police officers.

“When you have the chance to bridge a gap and work with the kids in the community and show them that not all police work is bad, It is a great opportunity for our officers and kids to work together. We are playing floor hockey, volleyball and just having fun it gives the kids to see police officers in a different light” said Provincial Constable Robin CARMOUNT.

Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Chad BARK says “It is an opportunity for our young people to see and interact with our officers in a positive, safe and fun environment. We are all proud of Robin’s accomplishments and hard work within the community. It hasn’t gone unnoticed.”
