The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 71 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Uniforms Unite to Save Lives

Woman Charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle CK15010213
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman in connection with a theft investigation.
Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol was driving on Pook Road just outside of Blenheim when a suspicious vehicle passed him in the opposite direction. The officer turned around and initiated a traffic stop on Allison Line. Through investigation, the officer learned that the woman had just stolen the vehicle from a residence on Sheldrick Street. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of jewelry and identification from the vehicle and marijuana. The officer also discovered that the woman was bound by a Probation Order not to possess any unlawful drugs or substances.
The 19-year-old Blenheim woman has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000, breach of probation and drug possession. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK15010129
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving in Dover Township.
Yesterday morning around 5:00 a.m. the man was travelling westbound on Grande River Line when he lost control of his truck, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. A witness contacted police as the man continued driving despite the fact that his vehicle had sustained significant damage. Police located the man turning from Pain Court Line onto Bear Line. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation believed the man was driving his truck while under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for breath tests. His vehicle was towed from the roadway.
Daniel Vendevelde, 20 years, of St. Clair Road in Chatham Township was charged with impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. He was released pending a future court date of April 28, 2015.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK15010198
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for breaching his release conditions in Chatham.
In December 2014, the man was released from custody with a condition to remain in his residence on Coverdale Street between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. This morning, shortly after midnight, officers located the man at a residence on Vanier Drive.
The 23-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
