Over the past two weeks officers from the Saugeen Shores Police Service have investigated break and enters to 64 trailers at the Port Elgin Trailer Park, the Southampton Trailer Park and Riverbend Trailer Park. Many of these entries had the doors forced but little to no damage was done. As well many of the trailers were only entered and there was no theft from within. Alcohol, electronic equipment such as flat screen tv’s, phones, bicycles, fire extinguishers were among the items stolen or taken and discarded near the break and enters. A 16 year old youth and an 18 year old male have been arrested and police continue to investigate. Four other suspects are being looked at for the various break and enters. Quite a few of the trailer owners have yet to attend and make a determination what if anything was stolen from their trailer. If you are missing something please report it to the police as we have some property in our possession now to identify and return. Saugeen Shores Police continue to investigate reports and complaints of prostitution and escort services in our area. This activity has been going on for many years and has progressed with the times and now uses the internet. You can actually go on the internet and find out who is going to be where and book a time. We are waiting to see how the government will address prostitution with legislation. We continue to deal with the spin off crimes that occur around this activity including human trafficking, drugs and other crimes.

31 March 2015

12:27 pm police received a complaint of a motor vehicle taken without the owner’s consent. A 19 year old male was arrested driving the vehicle and charged.

4:30 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Goderich St The incident occurred as one vehicle was backing into a parking spot.

2 April 2015

12:42 pm police, fire and ambulance attended to a motor vehicle collision on Turner St Southampton. A transport truck and trailer struck hydro lines and the live wires came down about his vehicle. Ontario Hydro had to cut the power to the area before the man could exit the vehicle. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

4 April 2015

Police conducted RIDE in Port Elgin, No infractions.

The warm weather is here and people will be out on their bicycles again. Please keep this in mind when driving and turning right. We all have to share the road and we all have to obey the traffic laws. Please be careful.
