It is obvious that council will pass the North Huron 2015 budget at Monday’s council meeting. There have been no questions, no comparisons and no questioning of Wingham Policing costs. The Wingham Police recently got a 3 year deal, and they are quite likely here to stay, as honest debate of this issue will not happen.
Without getting our taxes under control, there is no hope for Wingham. We will continue down the same path we have for decades, and we will get the same results. The population will continue to decline, as there is very little desire to live in this community in its’ current state. Property values will continue to stagnate, and illiquidity will increase. This is of absolutely no concern to councillors that own farmland, as it has jumped 15% in some years. The reality is that the Blyth and East-Wawanosh councillors control what happens in Wingham, and they hate us. The consensus seems to be that Wingham can choke on it’s own vomit.
Councillors believe they are doing an outstanding job, despite the proof they are the worst Municipal management team in Ontario. If we have the highest tax rate in Ontario, logic dictates we have the worst management team in place. Until council realizes that our insanely high tax rate has destroyed our community, nothing will change. Council will always defend our high tax rate, as doing anything else would admit they aren’t perfect
