(PEMBROKE, ON) During the week of the 13th of April to the 19th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 241 incidents including fraud, domestic disputes, and motor vehicle collisions.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
During the week of the 13th of April to the 19th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 17 motor vehicle collisions. 15 collisions were property damage and 2 collisions were personal injury motor vehicle collisions.
RIDE
During the week of the 13th of April to the 19th April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment conducted 16 RIDE programs. The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or use public transit.
Assault With A Weapon
On April 15th police were called to a residence in the Township of Whitewater Region after a report of an assault with an edged weapon was made. As a result of the investigation police have arrested and charged 29 year old Douglas FEINDEL of the Township of Whitewater Region with assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats and breach of probation. FEINDEL was held for a bail hearing. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Impaired/Over 80mg
On April 17th police conducted a RIDE program in Laurentian Valley Township. As a result of the RIDE program police have charged Thomas Edward RIVARD, age 22 of the City of Pembroke, with impaired driving and for driving with over 80mg of alcohol in his blood. RIVARD was released on a promise to appear with a future court date.
On April 18th police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted on Pembroke St. East in the City of Pembroke. As a result Christopher STAFFORD, age 33 of the City of Pembroke, is charged with impaired driving and driving with over 80mg of alcohol in his blood. STAFFORD was released on a promise to appear with a future court date.
Causing a Disturbance
On April 18th police responded to a multi-unit dwelling in the City of Pembroke due to a dispute between neighbours. As a result 34 year old Danyelle THERIAULT of the City of Pembroke is charged with causing a disturbance by being drunk contrary to the Criminal Code. THERIAULT was released on a promise to appear with a future court date.
Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent
On April 17th police received a complaint of a male youth driving a motor vehicle without insurance or a license in Petawawa. The male and vehicle were located in Petawawa and as a result a 16 year old male youth from Petawawa has been charged with failing to comply with a disposition under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and with taking a motor vehicle without consent contrary to the Criminal Code. The youth was release on a promise to appear with a future court date.
Fraud
On April 16th police responded to a report of fraud at Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township. Investigation revealed that a male suspect had used fraudulent means to obtain a Walmart gift card. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is continuing.
Break and Enter
On April 14th police responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence in the City of Pembroke. A television and a video game console were reported stolen. The investigation is continuing.
Domestic Disputes
During the week of the 13th of April to the 19th of April members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment investigated 10 domestic disputes. No charges were laid as a result of the investigations.
Replica Firearms
In recent weeks police have received calls from concerned citizens reporting firearm use within the City of Pembroke. In each instance it was found that replica firearms, also known as air guns or spring guns, were being used. City of Pembroke by-law 99-63 prohibits the use of such guns and violators are subject to a set fine of $300 under this by-law. Residents possessing such replica firearms are reminded to check with their local municipality regarding any by-laws restricting their use.
