(Town of New Tecumseth, ON)- On Sunday the 19th of April 2015, at 10:00 p.m. officers from the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified by the Toronto Police Service of an impaired driver in a Ford F150 pick-up truck on Highway 89 in the Town of New Tecumseth. Concerned citizens had called Toronto Police to notify them of the impaired driver.
Nottawasaga OPP officers located the Ford F-150 westbound on Highway 89 travelling at a high rate of speed, 136kms/hr in a posted 80kms/hr zone. The officers attempted to stop the Ford F-150, however it ended up driving northbound on County Road 56 in the Township of Essa and coming to rest in the ditch. Officer approached the driver, and he was arrested for Impaired and Dangerous Driving.
The accused, 37-year old, male Nicola FERRANTE of North York was charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80mgs and Dangerous Driving. He is scheduled to appear in court on May the 7th in Bradford, Ontario in answer to his charges.
