Incident #: WA15076878
Incident Date: Apr 13, 2015
Location:
As a result of a complaint received on April 13, 2015, Waterloo Regional Police are urging the public to be cautious of fraud scams over the Internet involving fictitious companies offering personal loans. They entice people with low interest rates and quick loan approvals. In turn, the applicants provide personal information and are required to purchase pre-loaded bank cards to prove that they are able to pay back the loan. The funds are then transferred by the suspects. The suspects have no intent on providing a loan and the applicants suffer the monetary losses. A qualified lending company will not request an applicant to send them any money in advance. Incidents should be reported to the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre.
