Central Hastings Press Releases

(Madoc, ON) – On April 25, 2015 at 11:30 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P conducted a R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program on Highway # 62 at Quin-Mo-Lac Road in the Municipality of Centre Hastings. Officers stopped a vehicle where it was discovered the driver had been consuming alcohol and he subsequently failed a roadside screening device test.

As a result 31 year old Hotze DE WAL of Frankford, ON was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80mg of Alcohol in Blood. He was issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. He will appear at Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville at the end of May 2015.

THEFT FROM UNLOCKED VEHICLE

(Marmora, ON) – Sometime in the overnight hours of April 25, 2015 an unlocked vehicle was entered and a pair of sunglasses was stolen while parked in a residential driveway on Madoc Street in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake. TWO VEHICLE COLLISION

(Hwy# 37, Belleville, ON) – On April 24, 2015 at 10:35 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway# 37 near Casey Road. The investigation revealed a southbound car crossed into the path of a northbound car. Drivers from both vehicles were transported to hospital with serious injuries. The investigation is continuing.

The highway reopened at approximately 1 a.m.

MISSING CHILD LOCATED

(Madoc, ON) – On April 24, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to a missing child complaint on Reynolds Lane in the Municipality of Centre Hastings after a 10 year old child wandered away from his home.

Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team (ERT) members also responded to assist with the search.

At 5:25 p.m. the boy was observed a short distance away from his home by a neighbour who then notified police. He was returned to his residence uninjured.
