Motorcyclist Airlifted To Hospital – Drinking Driver Charged

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a serious motor vehicle collision at a Blueline Road and Concession 12 Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Sunday, May, 3, 2015 at approximately 4:31 p.m., Norfolk County OPP, Norfolk County Fire Services and Norfolk County Paramedics responded to Blueline Road and Concession 12 for a collision involving a motor vehicle and a motorcyclist.

Through investigation it has been determined that a red coloured Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) being operated by a 36 year old male of St Catharines, was travelling eastbound on Concession 12 when it entered the intersection and collided with a motorcycle being operated by a 53 year old male of Brantford, Ontario travelling northbound on Blueline Road.

As a result of the collision, the motorcycle operator suffered serious life threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. He was then flown by Air Ornge ambulance to a Hamilton Health Sciences Hospital for further assessment.

The driver of the red SUV and three passengers did not receive any injuries as a result of the collision.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Blueline Road between Concession 11 and Concession 13 and Concession 12 between Culver Road and Cockshutt Road was closed for approximately 5 hours to allow for police investigation.

As a result of investigation, police have charged 36 year old Gregory MILLER of St Catharines, Ontario with careless driving and novice driver- blood alcohol concentration above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
