(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reminding residents to immediately contact police if they observe suspicious activity after police investigated a break and enter at a 2nd Concession Road, South Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
Between Friday, October 3, 2014 and Saturday, May 2, 2015, unknowns attended the Backus Mills Conservation area and proceeded forcibly enter a trailer located on the property. Once inside, unknowns removed a 12 volt RV battery, mustang life jacket, paintball masks and paintball guns, two (2) led flat screen televisions, blue ray player a movie projector and 20 blue ray movies which included an Indiana Jones box set.
The value is estimated at approximately $2,300 dollars.
The OPP encourage property owners to make frequent checks of their vacation property to ensure everything is secure. If travel time limits the number of opportunities to check in, arrangements should be made with a trusted friend or campground affiliate who will randomly check your property for you. This tried and tested method is the best deterrent against crime.
The OPP continue to appeal to persons living in and around trailer parks and/or cottages to report any and all suspicious activity to police when it happens. The OPP will remain committed to cottage and trailer security and maintain the Cottage Watch Program.
