(NORWICH, ON) – On May 8, 2015 at approximately 11:35 p.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress on Elgin Street East in Norwich.
Members of the public alerted police to the break and enter after observing four (4) suspects entering into a vacant school at that location.
The quick call to police allowed them to respond to the area immediately and arrest the suspects.
As a result of the investigation, two male youths ages 15 and 16 years old of Norwich were charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following:
Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
The males were released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on June 4, 2015. Two other 11 year old youths were cautioned and released unconditionally to their parents.
The OPP is asking residents to be vigilant in recognizing suspicious people or vehicles around empty residences. The public should report this immediately to their local police service. It is important for this information to get to police when the suspects may still be in the area.
