Daily News Release – Saturday, May 16, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police responded to 124 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.

Chatham Man Charged with Domestic-Related Offence

On Friday, May 15, 2015 at approximately 9:40pm, a man and his girlfriend began to argue about their relationship break-down. The man told the woman to leave their Raleigh Street house, so she packed some belongings and began to walk down the road. The man followed her and continued arguing with her. At one point, the man struck her causing her to fall. The woman did not receive any injuries. Chatham-Kent Police arrived on scene and took the male into custody.

A 30-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault and is being held pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Breaching Conditions

On Saturday, May 16, 2015 at approximately 1:00am, a Chatham-Kent Police officer observed a female riding her bike on Park Street in Chatham. The female was stopped and the officer received information that she was currently on conditions to be in her residence from 11:00pm to 6:00am. The female was subsequently arrested for breaching those conditions. During a search of the female, police located a small amount of crystal methamphetamine. The female was further charged with breaching conditions prohibiting her from possession unlawful drugs.

A 35-year-old Chatham female is facing two counts of breach of probation and has been released pending a future court date of May 29, 2015.

Break and Enter in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent Police are looking for information regarding a break and enter in Chatham.

On Friday, May 15, 2015 between 2:30pm and 5:00pm, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a house located on Riverview Drive in Chatham. A flat screen TV and some jewellery were stolen.

Man Charged with Liquor Offence

On Saturday, May 16, 2015 at approximately 3:45am, police located a man wandering Main Street East in Ridgetown in an intoxicated state. It was evident that the man could not care for himself and he was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. The 21-year-old Ridgetown resident was lodged at Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and held until sober before being released with a fine.
