A 31 year old Barrie man was arrested on the morning of May 15th after his common-law spouse attended the Barrie Police Station to report an assault. The female reported that her partner returned home drunk after a night out drinking and they began to argue about his late return home. The argument escalated to the point where the male kicked his partner in the leg and attempted to smother her with a pillow from the couch. The male was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon. The was male held for a bail hearing. The female was not seriously injured.

At 3:30am on the 15th of May 2015, a Barrie Police officer stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic related offense. A drunk female passenger exited the same vehicle and was subsequently arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. Investigation determined that the driver and passenger had been out looking to purchase drugs and that the 44yr old passenger had left her six year old son home alone while doing so. Police and a responsible family member located the child alone and in good health at a Barrie residence. The female was charged with child abandonment and has a court date in June.
