Fire Destroys Cottage

(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Georgian Bay Fire service attended the scene of a cottage fire on May 19, 2015 at 8:45 p.m. on Bone Island.

An area neighbor called 911 for emergency Services after seeing the cottage engulfed in flames from across the water. The owners managed to get out of the cottage before it, and a nearby Bunkie burned down. The male and female owner were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The fire started at the roof level of a wood burning stove. High winds made it difficult to fight the fire. Georgian Bay Fire remained at the scene until midnight and will be returning this morning.
