(KENORA, ON) – As a result of an investigation by members of the North West Region Crime Unit, on May 20, 2015, 56-year-old Eli MANDAMIN of Shoal Lake First Nation was arrested and charged with two offences contrary to the 1981 Criminal Code:
Rape contrary to section 143(a)
Sexual Intercourse with a Female Under Sixteen contrary to section 146(2)
The charges stem from an incident that occurred in March of 1981 when the accused was a First Nation Constable for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the community of Iskatewizaagegan (Shoal Lake #39).
The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Kenora Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2015.
