Out Of Control Male Damages Cruiser And Injures Police

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at approximately 9:26 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an “out of control” male at a Finden Street residence, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. The suspect, formerly of Owen Sound, was visiting relatives in Georgian Bluffs when he became extremely agitated and threatened to harm himself.

Upon police arrival, the suspect had locked himself in the bathroom, knowing there was an outstanding arrest warrant for him held by Owen Sound Police Service. Grey County OPP entered the bathroom. The suspect resisted arrest despite several warnings by police. Two officers received minor injuries.

The accused was taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act and was released back to police custody a short time later. The accused caused damage to an OPP cruiser and a holding cell at the Chatsworth OPP Detachment.

A 24 year old male from Bracebridge, Ontario has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest and two counts of Mischief Under $5,000. He is currently awaiting a bail hearing scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2015 in Owen Sound.
