(ORILLIA, ON.) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 152 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.
There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarm, 911 hang-ups, motor vehicle collisions, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints and Impaired driving.
On May 29, 2015 at approximately 7:23 p.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Cambrian Road and South Sparrow Lake Road in Severn Township. When officers arrived at scene they found two vehicles had been involved in a collision. After further investigation a male driver of one of the vehicles was arrested for impaired driving.
Michael GRAZIANO, 25 years old of Oro Medonte, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on June 9, 2015.
On May 30, 2015 at approximately 12:54 p.m., the Orillia OPP stopped an e-bike on Memorial Avenue in the City of Orillia. After further investigation the driver was arrested at the scene.
Russell COTTON, 36 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Drive While Disqualified. He was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Orillia court on June 30, 2015.
The Orillia OPP would like to remind the public that an E-bike is considered a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code of Canada. Anyone operating an e-bike while intoxicated or disqualified from driving a motorized vehicle, can be charged accordingly.
