Two Charged For Pretending To Be Doctors At Drug Treatment Centre

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Anti-Rackets Branch, Health Fraud Investigation Unit and Caledon OPP Detachment have charged two men in connection with the operation of a private drug and alcohol addiction treatment centre.

Police had received information alleging two individuals were identifying themselves and practicing as doctors at the Addiction Canada Treatment Centre in Caledon. Neither individual is licenced to practice medicine in Ontario.

As a result, Richard TUCKER — also known as ‘Dr. Tucker’ — aged 30 years of Mississauga, is charged under Section 40 (2) of the Regulated Health Professions Act in relation to Section 33 — using the title of “doctor”. He will appear at the Provincial Offences Court in Caledon on June 29th.

Munish N. MALIK — also known as Dr. M.N. Malik — aged 46 years of Richmond Hill, is charged with Personation, contrary to section 403 (a), and Fraud, contrary to section 380 of the Criminal Code of Canada. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 23rd.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
