(Amaranth,ON)-. At 5:55 am on June 3,2015 Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a serious collision on Dufferin County Road #109 west of 2nd line in Amaranth Township.
Preliminary Investigation reveals that a westbound van was involved in a head on collision with an east bound sedan.
The driver of van was taken to Headwaters Health Centre by Dufferin EMS and has succumbed to his injuries.
The male driver of the sedan was airlifted by Air ambulance at the scene to Toronto area hospital with life threatening injuries.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators are on scene investigating. County Road 109 between County Road 3 and County Road #11 will remain closed for several hours until investigation is completed.
Further details will be released when available. The names of persons involved will not be released until next of kin has been notified. Investigation is ongoing at this time.
**UPDATE: Dufferin OPP are advising that the medical condition of the 46 year old male driver from Grand Valley who was operating the Volkswagen Sedan involved in collision has improved and he is now listed in stable condition. The 46 year old male driver of the Mazda MPV van who succumbed to his injuries has been identified as Muhammad Sajid ANSARI, 46 of Brampton,Ontario.
Next of kin has been notified.
