(PORT HOPE, ON) –On June 6, 2015 at 1:24am Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 west of the Wesleyville exit involving two tractor trailers.
The deceased driver has now been identified as Shannon Scott BECK age 44 of Brighton, Ontario.
Northumberland OPP would like to thank the public for their patience during the lane closures. The decision to close a major highway is not taken lightly. Police are aware that closures of this nature may have a significant impact on personal or commercial traffic. The safety of all emergency responders at the scene is the primary concern for this decision. Many resources were involved in the investigation and subsequent environmental cleanup with public safety being the primary concern in relation to the roadway conditions.
A thorough investigation by police takes time and is of paramount importance when dealing with a collision that results in a tragedy such as this.
