Upper Ottawa Valley Weekly Release

(PEMBROKE, ON) During the week of the 01st of June to the 07th of June members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 293 incidents including mischief, thefts, domestic disputes, and motor vehicle collisions.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

During the week of the 01st of June to the 07th of June members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment investigated 28 motor vehicle collisions. 24 collisions were property damage collisions and 4 were personal injury collisions.

RIDE

During the week of the 01st of June to the 07th of June members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment conducted 8 RIDE programs. The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or use public transit.

Mischief

On June 06th officers attended a residence in the City of Pembroke after receiving a complaint of an intoxicated male intentionally causing damage to the residence. Police attended and investigated the incident. As a result Shane Maurice CHARTRAND, age 28 of the City of Pembroke, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

· Mischief Under $5000 – 2 counts

· Fail to Comply with Recognizance – 1 count

CHARTRAND was held for a bail hearing.

Assault Police

On June 7th police responded to the area of Third Ave in the City of Pembroke after it was reported a group young females appeared to be intoxicated and walking on the street. One of the females, age 16, was found to be wanted on a warrant for assault with a weapon and she was arrested and taken into custody. During the arrest process the 16 year old female resisted arrest, damaged a police cruiser and assaulted police. As a result a 16 year old female youth from the City of Pembroke was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

· Assault a Peace Officer – 3 counts

· Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest – 2 counts

· Mischief Under $5000

· Assault with a Weapon

During this same incident a second 16 year old female intervened during the arrest of the first female and as a result the second 16 year old female young person from the City of Pembroke was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

· Obstruct Police Officer

· Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

The second female young person was also charged with Failing to Comply with a Disposition under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Both female youths were held for a bail hearing.

Drug Possession/Trafficking

As the result of a RIDE program on June 03rd police have charged a passenger in a motor vehicle with two drug offences and one criminal code offence. Dion RANGER, age 36 of the City of Pembroke, is charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

· Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl

· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

RANGER was also charged with Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code and released on an undertaking and promise to appear with a court date of July 14th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

On June 01st police were called to the Travelodge Hotel in the City of Pembroke due to unwanted persons at the hotel. Investigation into the unwanted parties resulted in several charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) being laid. Natasha Elizabeth ALLAN age 20 of Pembroke, Alex AROZ age 24 of Pembroke, and Bradley Joseph PEARCE age 24 of Arnprior were each arrested and charged with:

· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

AROZ and PEARCE were each further charged with:

· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamines

PEARCE was also charged with Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code. All 3 parties were held for a bail hearing.

Theft

On June 01st police responded to an overnight theft of toys and a picnic table from the fenced yard of Children’s Garden Nursery on Doran Street in the City of Pembroke. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation is continuing.

On June 01st two decorative wrought iron hanging posts were reported stolen during from a garden in the City of Pembroke. The posts were black and both were six feet in height. Also stolen were two wrought iron hanging baskets that were hung from the posts. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation is continuing.

On June 05th police received a report of an overnight theft of a wooden bench with a wrought iron frame from the front porch of a Petawawa residence. No suspects have been identified. The investigation is continuing.

Domestic Disputes

During the week of the 01st of June to the 07th of June members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment investigated 14 domestic disputes. As a result,

· One adult female was charged with Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code
