(TECUMSEH, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called on June 8, 2015 at approximately 10:45 p.m., onto Highway 401 in Tecumseh for a report of a vehicle heading eastbound in the westbound lanes at a high rate of speed.
Several officers from Essex County OPP as well as Chatham Kent OPP responded. Traffic was quite heavy on Highway 401 at the time.
Officers utilized several traffic halting techniques and eventually brought the suspect vehicle to a stop just west of Essex County Road 42 in Lakeshore.
The suspect was not injured and one OPP officer received minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured in the incident.
A 75 year old male from Oshawa, was charged with Careless Driving and Drive While Under Suspension. He will appear in a Windsor court at a later date to answer to the charges.
