46 Out Of 365 Vehicles Unlocked

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH) – During the night of 19 June 2015, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted checks of parked and unattended vehicles, on our residential streets, in Alliston, Angus and Tottenham, to determine if they had been properly secured and locked.

At the end of this initiative, a total of 365 vehicles were checked and officers found that 46 of the vehicles were unlocked.

The OPP continues to receive numerous calls regarding theft from vehicles which have occurred overnight. We want to remind residents to ensure that valuable items are either removed from the vehicle or at least stored out of sight and that the vehicle is securely locked.

We continue to patrol our community’s residential streets during the late evening and early morning hours but we solicit your help in ensuring that you secure your vehicle.
