(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On June 24, 2015, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a tractor trailer that was eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Merlin Road.
When officers arrived, a Peterbilt tractor trailer was stopped in the left lane of the westbound lanes, facing eastbound. Officers had discussion with the male driver and further investigation revealed that the near empty trailer had been pushed by the wind, causing the vehicle to catch the shoulder of the highway. The tractor trailer then crossed through the median and entered the westbound left lane.
Officers conducted a brief slow-down of the westbound and eastbound lanes to escort the tractor trailer safely back to the eastbound lanes.
No injuries were reported.
No charges were laid.
