Two Charged With Aggravated Assault – One Sent To Hospital

(TOWN OF PENETANGUISHENE, ON) – On June 22, 2015 at 5:47 p.m. members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Simcoe County Paramedics responded to a call of an assault in the driveway of a residence in the town of Penetanguishene.

Two males attended a residence in Penetanguishene and confronted a male victim before assaulting him in his driveway. The two male suspects fled the scene following the assault. The male victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Investigation led to two suspects being arrested. Fred GRIGG (age 38) of Tiny Township has been charged with:

– Aggravated Assault sec 268 of the Criminal Code of Canada

– Assault with a Weapon sec 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice July 30, 2015 in Midland, ON.

John MONSMA (age 34) of Penetanguishene ON, has been charged with:

– Aggravated Assault sec 268 of the Criminal Code of Canada

– Assault with a Weapon sec 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

– Uttering Threats sec 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been held for a bail hearing June 23, 2015 in Barrie ON.
