(Cobourg, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit have charged a Cobourg man following a child pornography investigation.
On November 6, 2014 police from the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, OPP Technical Crime Unit and the Northumberland OPP executed a search warrant at a Cobourg residence. As a result of this investigation, three computer devices and other items pertinent to the investigation were seized. Some of the computers seized contained images of child sexual abuse.
On November 6, 2014 police arrested and charged Joseph Calvin DeYOUNG, age 45 years, of Cobourg Ontario with one count of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Accessing Child Pornography. He was subsequently released on bail with conditions at that time.
On June 16, 2015 members of the O.P.P. Child Sexual Exploitation Unit re-arrested and charged Joseph Calvin DeYOUNG with three more charges as a result of analyzing the contents of the computer data. He is charged with one count of Sexual Assault, one count of Sexual Interference and one count of Making Child Pornography.
The accused was released with conditions following a bail hearing June 17, 2015. He is scheduled to appear on July 27, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg Ontario.
The investigation is continuing.
