(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) –Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with a variety of calls this past weekend, here are some examples:
Jun 26:
– Family dispute Seymour Twp over child custody issues, both parents referred to family court
– An intoxicated Campbellford resident dialed 911at 7:30am to report a theft from last year. The officer was unable to make sense of the complaint and advised her to call back when sober on the non-emergency line (1-888-310-1122)
– 911 call Cramahe Twp child playing with phone (9:39am).
– 911 call Brighton, no emergency at payphone (9:40am).
– 911 call Hamilton Twp trying to dial 411(10:16am).
– Police assisted the family of a Hamilton Twp youth who threatened self-harm over her boyfriend going away for the summer. She was taken to a nearby hospital by family members for help with her mental health issues
Jun 27:
– Report of a large party and possible underage drinking at a rental cottage in Brighton (12:34am). Officers found that the group of college students had adequate adult supervision and were all of age
– Report of a large party at a home in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp (2:30am). Things had calmed down prior to officers arriving and the caller cancelled police
– A business on Bridge St E Campbellford reported damage to their flower boxes sometime overnight
– Family dispute in Bewdley, mother attempting to discipline her daughter by taking away her cell phone. Officers provided advice to all family members
– A traffic stop on County Rd 30 in Brighton resulted in a 20 yr old Quinte West man being charged with driving while under suspension. Car towed from scene.
– Police assisted EMS at a Brighton home with an aggressive dementia sufferer. She was left in the care of family members.
Jun 28:
– A Seymour Twp man reported his wallet stolen from his unlocked car which was parked in his driveway overnight.
– A traffic stop at an entrance to the Ganaraska Forest near County Rd 45 in Alnwick-Haldimand Twp resulted in a local youth being charged with Possession of a Schedule II substance – marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. He was arrested, taken to the Cobourg detachment and subsequently released to a parent with an impending court date
– Police responded to a Hamilton Twp home to a report of a woman threatening self-harm. Officers apprehended her and took her to a nearby hospital for treatment for her mental health issues
– A second call in as many days to a Brighton community regarding a confused senior suffering from dementia sitting in a park. EMS transported her to a nearby hospital for assessment after attempts to locate family were unsuccessful
– Police responded to a Colborne home where a youth was punching walls and threatening self-harm. Officer apprehended the youth for her own safety. EMS transported her to a hospital with the assistance of an officer inside the ambulance where her mental health was assessed.
– 911 dialed accidentally while attempting a voice activated command on an iPhone
Northumberland OPP also conducted five RIDE programs, investigated 10 motor vehicle collisions and 34 traffic related complaints.
