Another Good Neighbour Defends Community – Thieving Youth Arrested

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday June 26, 2015, shortly after 6:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by an Atwood resident who reported the theft of items from a residential garage.

Investigation revealed that a neighbour observed a young male enter a garage on the Main Street of Atwood. The neighbour contacted the homeowner who subsequently confronted the male. The young male refused to identify himself and left the scene.

Perth County OPP officers obtained a description of the male and subsequent investigation led to the identity of the male youth. Officers were unsuccessful in locating him on Saturday June 27th.

On Sunday June 28, 2015, Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to an address in Atwood where the same male youth had attended. The homeowner discovered that after the male youth had left the residence an electronic item had been removed.

On Sunday evening June 28, 2015 police attended another residence on the Main Street of Atwood, where they located the male suspect. The male youth was arrested, for two counts of “theft under $5,000”, and one count of “fail to comply with undertaking”, contrary to the criminal code of Canada. The youth has been remanded into custody until July 02, 2015, when he is to attend a bail hearing in Stratford
