(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a possible impaired driver travelling westbound on Highway 402 near Longwoods Road on June 19, 2015 at approximately 9:00 p.m.
Officers located the vehicle, a red Pontiac car, parked in the car pool lot on Longwoods Road.
Police determined that the 50 year old male in the driver’s seat had been drinking alcohol. He was placed under arrest and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing, which revealed he had consumed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, Francis GIFFEN, from Strathroy-Caradoc, Ontario, has been charged with care or control while impaired (alcohol), and care or control over 80 mgs, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC). He was further charged with possession of a schedule I substance – other drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to answer to the charges in a London court on July 24, 2015.
