(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Wednesday July 01, 2015, shortly after 10 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols on Perth Road 119 near Line 54 (Topping Curve), when a fast moving Jeep SUV was observed.
The officer activated the police radar and locked the Jeep’s speed on the police radar at 139 km/h. The posted speed limit in that location is 80 km/h.
Basel GUPTA (27) of Toronto was pulled over and was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
He is to appear at Stratford Court on August 11, 2015 to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days. In addition, his Jeep was towed from the scene and was impounded for a week.
