18 Year Old Drunk Driver Sends 4 To Hospital

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two individuals with criminal impaired driving offences over the weekend.

On July 4, 2015 at 8:57 am, officers were advised of single motor vehicle roll over on Highway 621 in Dawson Township. Ambulance and Fire attended the scene and transported four individuals to hospital with minor injuries. Officers attended the hospital and after speaking with the driver, it was determined that he had been drinking. Subsequently, Trevor STARR, (age 18) of Dominion City, Manitoba was charged with Impaired operation and Over 80 mgs. The vehicle was towed from the scene and held for the mandatory 7 days. STARR first court appearance will be August 4, 2015.

On July 4, 2015 at 1:41 am, officers stopped a 2008 grey Honda after observing it driving in a suspicious manner on the 400 Block of Scott Street in Fort Frances. Thomas WARD, (age 58) of Fort Frances was charged with Over 80 mgs after he failed the roadside screening device and subsequent Intoxilyzer breath tests. The vehicle was towed and held for the mandatory 7 days. WARDS first court appearance will be August 10, 2015.

The OPP reminds motorists that operating a vehicle or vessel under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous and jeopardizes your own safety as well as the safety of others.
