(NAPANEE, ON)- On June 29th, 2015 at 8 p.m. officers with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to an assault complaint in the Town of Greater Napanee.
Investigation revealed that a 64 year-old Napanee man had been travelling west on Meach Road in the Town of Greater Napanee when a dog ran out in front of his vehicle. The man attempted to stop however was unable to avoid hitting the animal. The driver immediately pulled over and was approached by a very upset and angry male. The driver was struck by the man and knocked unconscious. When the victim awoke he crawled to his vehicle and drove to a family member’s residence for help.
Family members transported the victim to the Lennox and Addington General Hospital. Due to the severity of the injuries sustained the victim was transported to Kingston General Hospital.
As a result of the police investigation 26 year-old Patrick Alvin EVANS of Meach Road was arrested last night and faces charges of aggravated assault and breach of recognizance. EVANS is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Napanee today for a bail hearing.
