(TAY TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a break in to the SS Keewatin ship at 311 Talbot Street Tay Township.
Between 7:00 p.m. on July 8 and 7:00 a.m. on July 9, 2015 suspect(s) smashed a second floor window enough to reach in and unlock a door. Two cash registers were stolen from the ship which contained about $80 in coins. There are cameras placed nearby the ship and police will be continuing the investigation.
While reporting this incident, the staff at SS Keewatin reported an incident from June 30, 2015 which $500.00 cash went missing. It wasn’t until later that that they confirmed it was not a counting error but in fact a theft. All monies from this point forward will be removed from the ship at night and security is to be increased.
