Drunk Driving ATV Operator Charged

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On July 12, 2015 at approximately 3:40 a.m., Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) travelling without lights, eastbound on Catherine Street.

Police located the motor vehicle a short time later, stopped near a building in the 100 block of Catherine Street. The driver fled on foot, but was subsequently located, and apprehended.

Officers determined the male had been drinking alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing.

As a result of the police investigation, 34-year-old Shawn BATTRAM, from North Middlesex, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear, and is scheduled to appear in the London courts on August 25, 2015, to answer to the charges.
