Don’t Leave Pets in Vehicles
With warmer weather here, pet owners are encouraged to leave their pets at home. Parked cars quickly reach deadly temperatures for animals that don’t have the same ability to deal with rising temperatures that humans can withstand. Citizens who spot a dog or an animal in a hot parked car are encouraged to report the licence plate and description of the vehicle to the store so an announcement can be made inside the store. The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCS) has also set up a hotline to report animals in hot cars. Call them at 310-SPCA or 310-7722 anywhere in Ontario. For more information go to: www.nohotpets.ca. If the animal appears to be in distress call the SPCA at 310-7722 or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Traffic Safety
The OPP would like to remind the public to be mindful of four way stop signs and to make full and complete stops. Police have received several complaints regarding the intersection of Dignard St and St Pierre Road in Russell Township, where there’s a stop sign within the vicinity of a bicycle path which is utilized by many cyclists and children. Educational and enforcement action will take place at that intersection.
