(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On July 20, 2015, just before 8:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a complaint of a Ford Escape driving erratically on Highway 401 eastbound near Scane Side Road.
A member of the Chatham-Kent OPP West Region Highway Enforcement Team (WRHET) located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. While the officer was speaking with the driver, 52-year-old Scott FIDDES, from St. Thomas, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
Subsequent tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit and he will appear in a Chatham court on August 19, 2015, to answer to the following charges:
· Driving While Ability Impaired, under the Criminal Code of Canada
· Driving With More Than 80 mgs Of Alcohol In Blood, under the Criminal Code of Canada
