Orillia Weekend Update

(ORILLIA, ON.) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 182 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarm, 911 hang-ups, motor vehicle collisions, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, marine calls and Impaired drivers.

On July 25, 2015 at approximately 10:17 p.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the Atherley Road and Creighton Street area in the City of Orillia. An officer attended and located a vehicle parked at a business on Atherley Road. The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene.

David STEWART, 21 years old of Caledon, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on August 11, 2015.

On July 26, 2015 at approximately 4:57 a.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to a possible impaired driver on a go cart in the area of Lagoon City in Ramara Township.

When officers arrived at the scene in the area of Poplar Crescent and Turtle Path they located a male party sitting in a go cart. The male party failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.

Joshua RAMIREZ, 30 years old of North York, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on August 11, 2015.

On July 26, 2015 at approximately 4:23 p.m., the Orillia OPP marine vessel was on patrol near Big Chief Island when officers noticed two females fall off of a jet ski. Officers attended to make sure that the females were ok and to assist them in getting back on as they seemed to be having trouble. The driver of the vessel failed a breath test and was arrested.

Amanda RIDER, 29 years old of Barrie, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Vessel and Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. She was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia court on August 11, 2015.

On July 26, 2015 at approximately 3:19 p.m., the Orillia OPP was dispatched to assist with a medical issue at Big Chief Island. Officers attended with Rama Fire to remove a male from a vessel who had suffered an injury. Officers and Rama Fire used the newly installed Safety Lane to gain access to the male and he was transported to shore to be looked at by paramedics.
