(KINGSTON, ON) – On July 27, 2015 the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad was contacted in regards to a death of a federal inmate at Collins Bay Institution. A male inmate suffered injuries and was transported to hospital where he succumbed to those injuries. The deceased has been identified as John James MACDONALD 55 of Toronto.
The Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad and Corrections Canada are investigating the incident under the direction of Detective Inspector Jim Gorry of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Branch. A post mortem examination was held at Ottawa General Hospital and the death was deemed to be a homicide.
