(PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On July 29, 2015 at approximately 9:09 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Gore Road near Townline Road in Puslinch Township.
Officers investigated the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet that entered into the checkpoint. Police immediately detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and noticed other physical characteristics consistent with alcohol consumption and impairment. The driver completed the Standard Field Sobriety testing (SFST) poorly and based on those results combined with the officer’s observations he was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
53-year-old Bradley MADDICK of Puslinch Township has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on August 21, 2015 to answer to his charge.
