(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a 33-year-old Aylmer man with numerous criminal offences after he attempted to evade police yesterday July 29th, 2015.
The incident began around 3:29pm; police were assisting the Aylmer Police Service in attempting to locate a 33-year-old Aylmer man in regards to an incident in Aylmer.
At approximately 5:15 police observed the male operating a vehicle southbound on Imperial Road near Conservation Line. Police attempted to pull the vehicle over, however the male failed to stop for police. The male pulled in to the parking lot of Aylmer Garden Nursery and then continued into a farmer’s field almost striking a worker in the field. Police attempted to prevent the vehicle from exiting the field and in the process the fleeing suspect vehicle struck one of the police cruisers. The suspect vehicle then re-entered the field where police lost sight of it.
Police contained the area and at approximately 5:39pm received a call from a near-by resident reporting that they had just observed “the man that had been running from police” run through their property.
Elgin County OPP officers along with OPP K9 and members of the OPP Emergency Response Team searched the property and located the male hiding in a barn. He was arrested without incident.
As a result of the investigation police have charged Blake Anthony TRIEBL, age 33 of Aylmer, ON with;
Dangerous Driving under the Criminal Code.
Failing to Comply with a Recognizance Order under the Criminal Code.
Flight from Police under the Criminal Code.
TRIEBL is currently in custody awaiting a show cause bail hearing.
