(KENORA, ON) – On July 28, 2015 at approximately 9:30pm, officers with the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate an assault in progress at an apartment building on First Street South in Kenora.
After the arrival of emergency personnel the victim in the incident, a 56-year-old male from Kenora, was transported by Emergency Medical Services with life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Ethan COPENACE of Kenora was charged with Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code. He appeared in Kenora Ontario court July 29, 2015 and was held in custody. His next court appearance is July 31, 2015 in Kenora.
The North West Region Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit are conducting the investigation under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy HEIDA of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
