(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated an incident after being called to a Spooky Hollow Road, Charlotteville, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Monday, August 3, 2015 at approximately 4:15 p.m., police received a call from Norfolk County Fire Services after members located three (3) youths lighting a fire in a bush lot located on Spooky Hollow Road.
Through investigation it was determined that the youths had lit a small fire which was extinguished by firefighters on scene however there was potential for that small fire to spread in an around the bush lot.
Police spoke to a 13 year old male and two (2) 14 year old males all of Norfolk County, Ontario.
The parents and caregivers were contacted and all were explained the dangers of setting any fire especially in a vacant wooded bush lot where there was potential for the fire to spread.
The OPP and Norfolk County Fire Services are urging all caregivers and parents to discuss the dangers of lighting fires with their children without parental supervision.
No charges were laid as result of this incident.
