(MIDLAND, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (Project “P”) have arrested and charged a Midland man following a one month online undercover investigation during which the accused had text based communication with a female that he believed to be under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose.
On August 5th, 2015 members of the O.P.P. Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, the O.P.P. Technological Crime Unit, Midland Police Service and the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment executed a search warrant at a Midland residence. As a result of this investigation, a computer and cell phone were seized and are pending forensic analysis.
Daniel Alfred WEYMAN, age 68, of Midland Ontario is charged with using a telecommunication to facilitate the offence of invitation to sexual touching in relation to a person under 16 years of age.
The accused was released from custody at a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on September 3rd, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland, Ontario.
The investigation is continuing.
