(HALIBURTON HIGHLANDS, ON) – Officers from the Haliburton Highlands detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a shooting incident which took place on August 16, 2015 shortly before 6:00 p.m., at a residence on Highway 118 in Dysart.
Police received a complaint of what sounded like a firearm being discharged. When police arrived on the scene, they found one male deceased. Another male believed to be involved in the incident was later located and transported to hospital to be treated for injuries which are unknown at this time. Both males appear to have suffered gun-shot wounds.
The OPP continues to investigate the incident under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Rob Hagerman of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU) have all been called in to assist with the investigation.
There are no outstanding suspects in this case and there is no threat to public safety at this time. OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times. Investigation is ongoing and further information will be released with it becomes available
