(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Tuesday, August 6 2013 at approximately 11:20 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a three vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 11/17 and Balsam Street.
The driver of a 2003 Acura MDX was east bound on Highway 11/17 when the driver approached the Balsam Street intersection. The driver was behind a vehicle and when the traffic signal turned to green, the driver changed lanes and was struck by an oncoming east bound tractor trailer unit from behind. A second east bound tractor trailer unit struck the initial tractor trailer from behind.
There were no injuries reported.
The Acura and the first tractor trailer unit sustained substantial damages. The second tractor trailer unit had minor damages.
A 27 year old female driver from Calgary was charged with Change Lane Not In Safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
