(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 33 calls for service on Monday August 24, 2015.
Impaired Driver
One male is facing several criminal charges including impaired driving after two fail to remain collisions and one driving complaint were reported to the OPP Monday afternoon. At approx. 3:47 pm a driver on Lochwinnoch Road in Horton Township reported being rear-ended, and the suspect driver continued on. A second reported fail to remain collision happened nearby on Castleford Road at approx. 4:16pm. A third caller reported an erratic driver on Castleford Road and was able to provide police with a licence plate. Police located the suspect and vehicle at a residence on River Road in McNab Braeside Township. The male driver was arrested. Following an investigation including breath tests William LENNOX 50 of Arnprior was charged with impaired driving, driving over 80mgs, dangerous driving, possession of marihuana, two counts of failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and two Highway Traffic Act counts of failing to remain at the scene of a collision. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on September 23. Provincial Constable Bernie Dikih led the investigation.
Break and Enter
A home on River road in McNab Braeside Township was broken into Monday afternoon. Sometime between 1:30 – 2:30 pm the home was entered by a female through an unlocked window. Once inside several pieces of jewelry were stolen. The suspect was observed by a witness getting into a grey 4 door car, similar to a Toyota Corolla or Dodge Dart. An older male was driving the car. They left driving westbound, but were seen a short time later travelling eastbound, back towards Arnprior on River Road. The suspect is described as: female, 60ish years old, 5’ 7” tall, dark tanned skin, grey hair in a jaw length bob style, wearing brown capris and brown running shoes. The male driver of the vehicle is described as: male, wearing prescription glasses, with a receding hair line and grey and black hair. He also appeared to have a large belly. Provincial Constable Sylvie Caouette is investigating.
Domestic Disputes
Renfrew OPP officers responded to three domestic disputes on Monday. One investigation is continuing, and no criminal offences occurred in the others.
Theft
A bike was stolen from a residence on Allan Drive in Arnprior between 21-24 August. The bike was parked behind a garage and is described as a navy blue coloured CCM Gemini mountain bike. There are no suspects.
Officers are investigating after the manager at Mark’s Work Wearhouse in Arnprior reports several thefts have been captured on surveillance cameras in the past couple of weeks. Provincial Constable Raul Pasta Junior is investigating.
A dump trailer has been stolen from a property on Storyland Road in Horton Township. The theft occurred between Saturday August 22 and Monday August 24. Provincial Constable Bernie Dikih is investigating.
Radar Detector Seized
A radar detector was seized and the driver charged after an OPP radar detector detector alerted the officer to a vehicle operating with a radar detector. Sgt. Derek McLeod stopped the vehicle on Highway 17 in Horton Township at approx. 9:14 am and issued a ticket for the offence to Sandra Paquette-Lickorish 67 of Algonac, MI.
Trespassing
Arnprior OPP officers responded to a trespassing complaint at St John XXIII School in Arnprior on Edey St at 7:00pm Monday. Upon arrival they located four youths on the roof of the school. The 13, 15 and two 14-year-olds were warned for trespassing.
