(RENFREW, ON.) – Officers from the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating after a report that a male attempted to lure a youth into a van in Calabogie Saturday near dinner time.
At 5:27pm Saturday August 29 police responded after a 12-year-old male reported the suspicious incident to his relatives. He was in Calabogie playing with a cousin when they began to bike home taking seperate routes. The boy was on his bike on Mill St near the Community Centre when he stopped to look at a van on a path or dirt road that had just started and startled him. The male driver opened the door and told him to come here”. The youth refused and the male walked towards the youth and placed his hand on the shoulder of the youth. The youth pulled away and took off. He was followed by the van for a short time. The youth met up with his cousin near the school and then proceeded to his relatives and reported the incident.
