Renfrew OPP Weekly News

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 139 calls for service from Thursday August 27 to Sunday August 30.

Domestic Disputes

OPP officers investigated 11 domestic disputes from Thursday to Sunday. One male was charged with assault and domestic mischief. No other criminal offences occurred.

Impaired Driver

On Saturday August 29 OPP officers received a report of a possible impaired driver on O’Brien Road in Renfrew travelling towards Highway 17. The suspect had a child in the vehicle with her and a description of the vehicle was provided to Police. OPP officers located the vehicle on highway 17 near Chenaux Road in Horton Township. The female driver had been drinking and was arrested after failing a roadside alcohol screening tests. Following breath tests at the detachment Toni RIZZUTO 43 of Mississauga was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs. She was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on September 23. Provincial Constable Sarah Turcotte investigated.

Theft

A wallet was stolen from a residence on Burnstown Road sometime between August 20-27. The owner advised they were unsure how the theft occurred as the home is always locked when they are not there, and there was no sign of forced entry. Provincial constable Helen Paterson is investigating.

A quantity of change was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Lake Street in Arnprior. Motorists are encouraged to remove all items from their vehicles which would be attractive to thieves, including loose change. Lock your vehicle when not in use.

An I Phone 5 and black speaker were stolen from a residence on Lisgar Avenue in Renfrew. The theft happened at the end of July and a suspect name was provided to OPP. Provincial Constable David Ladd is investigating.

A wallet was stolen from a vehicle on Saturday August 29 between 7:30 and 9 pm. The vehicle was parked on Oak Crescent in Renfrew at the time and it is unknown if the vehicle was locked. There is a suspect. Provincial Constable Amanda Carruthers is investigating.

Male Charged for Public Intoxication

On Saturday August 29 shortly after 1 am OPP officers were patrolling on McLean Avenue when they stopped to deal with a possible intoxicated pedestrian. The male was intoxicated, and refused to identify himself. He was arrested for the offence of public intoxication and held in custody until sober. Andrew SCOTT 20 of Arnprior was issued a ticket for the offence. Provincial Constable Ken Rusaw investigated.

Mischief

A screen door was damaged at a property on Carss Street in Arnprior. The victim advised the damage occurred overnight on Wednesday August 26 and that the BBQ may have been used as well. No entry to the residence was gained. Provincial Constable Raul Pasta Junior is investigating.

A screen in a door was cut at a residence on Edward Street S in Arnprior on Friday August 28 at approx. 2:45am. The homeowner knows the suspect and decided not to involve the police, after calling 9-1-1 to report the incident.

Garbage is being thrown about and skeet shooting possibly going on at a parking lot at Obrien Road near Renfrew Glass. There is a suspect and police ask that anyone with information call the OPP at 613-432-3211.
