(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) detachment had a number of driving related arrests over the past long weekend.
On Friday September 4, 2015 at approximately 7:30 pm officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check in Janetville. After an investigation at the spot check Elaine HAYMAN, 53 years of age, of Scugog Township was arrested and charged with Over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC). The accused will appear in Lindsay court on October 15, 2015.
On Saturday September 5, 2015 three separate incidents resulted in the arrests of the following individuals.
At approximately 5:00 pm officers attended a single motor vehicle collision on St. Mary Road. The driver, Dylan CHARLAND, 29 years of age, of Omemee was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the CCC and Over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CCC. The accused will appear in Lindsay court on September 24, 2015.
At approximately 5:05 pm officers attended a single vehicle collision on Pontypool Road. A passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene. The driver, Allan WESTON, 49 years of age, of Pontypool was arrested and charged with Drive while Disqualified contrary to section 259(4) of the CCC and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle causing bodily harm contrary to section 249(3) of the CCC. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
At approximately 10:30 pm officers were conducting a RIDE spot check on Northline Road. A vehicle attempted to avoid the RIDE check. The vehicle was located and the driver 26 year old Kenneth FERRIER of Lindsay was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) CCC
Over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) CCC
Drive while under suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Have care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of alcohol contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
On September 7, 2015 at approximately 12:30 am a traffic stop was initiated on Highway 35 for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. An investigation was commenced and the driver, COLIN WINDSOR, 21 years of age of Kronau, Saskatchewan was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
Drive while Disqualified contrary to section 259(4) of the CCC
Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to section 333.1 of the CCC
Race a motor vehicle contrary to section 172(1) of the HTA
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
