(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Members of the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Muskoka Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), the USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) Response Team (UCRT), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Central Region Support Team (RST), Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB) under the direction of Detective Inspector Martin GRAHAM of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have conducted a 4 month investigation into a series of structure fires that occurred in the area of Brodie Crescent and Fallsview Road in Bracebridge dating back to 2010.
On September 9, 2015, the Muskoka Crime Unit, with the assistance of the OPP FIS and UCRT executed a search warrant at a residence on the High Falls Resort property located on Brodie Crescent, Bracebridge.
Arrested and charged with the following offences is Brian Coldin (55) of Bracebridge:
Arson for a Fraudulent Purpose CC 435(1) (two counts)
Fraud Over $5,000 CC 380(1)(a) (two counts)
Arson CC 434 (two counts)
Counselling an Offence that is not Committed CC 464(a)
Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order CC 117.01(1)
Unsafe Storage of a Firearm CC 86(2)
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1) (two counts)
The accused has been remanded and is scheduled to appear in Bracebridge court on September 11th, 2015.
